  • More than 103,000 people are currently waiting for organ transplants, nearly 8,000 are in New York.
  • Every 18 hours, a New Yorker dies waiting for a lifesaving transplant.
  • New York ranks 50th out of 50 states in percentage of residents registered as organ donors.
  • Only 45%Ìýof New Yorkers are registered organ donors.
  • One organ donor can save up to eight lives.

Annual Event That Changes LivesÌý
Stony Brook Participates inÌýOrgan Donor EnrollmentÌýDayÌýevery October.

Hundreds of generous people sign up each yearÌýto make a difference in the lives of others by committing to organ donation. Each enrollment has the potential to save more than eight lives.

Enrollment Day takes place at Stony Brook University Hospital and at Stony Brook University.
