Stony Brook鈥檚 Department of Kidney Transplant recently participated in a real-life documentary to help shed light on living kidney donation. The documentary, titled can be viewed on the .
This documentary is the story of a young woman with lupus who was on the kidney transplant wait list. It takes you through the struggles with her illness to finding a living kidney donor, to the transplant workup process, and living donor surgery itself. Her kidney transplant has restored her quality of life. Featured in the film are Dr. Wayne Waltzer, Dr. Frank Darras, the Kidney Transplant Team, and other healthcare staff members at Stony Brook University Hospital as they take part in this journey.
