School of Health Professions Interprofessional Education Day - March 28, 2025
The School of Health Professions annual IPE day brings SHP and SSW students together to learn with each other. This year's event was structured as multiple escape rooms. Interprofessional student teams had to work through case related puzzles and games designed around the theme of the Wizard of Oz. Faculty in SHP worked collaboratively to develop a case and IPE event that gave students to develop team-based competencies, including communication, teamwork, and roles and responsibilities. Feedback and evaluations from the event highlighted students' attainment of interprofessional learning outcomes, appreciation for this unique opportunity and enjoyed the experience.

School of Health Professions Pediatric Interprofessional Education Day - March 7, 2025
The Departments of Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Physician Assistant and Speech-Language Pathology held their 3rd consecutive 'Rare-IPE' day. This interprofessional event allows students to explore individual roles through the lens of optimizing collaborative efforts when working with individuals representing the 'rare community' of over 7,000 rare diagnoses. Faculty responsible for the Pediatric content in each of these SHP Departments created an agenda that allowed for interprofessional learning based upon survey feedback from students from prior years. Five rare diagnoses were chosen as the basis for exploration and interprofessional learning. A guest speaker from the rare community shared, for the 3rd consecutive year, her perspective on what healthcare professionals must know in working with affected individuals and their families. The group has presented on this unique format at national and local conferences.
